Believers praying at the Grand Mosque in Mecca can now perform their rituals without carrying personal belongings, thanks to a newly launched smart luggage storage service.

Introduced by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the service is available 24/7 throughout Ramadan.

The initiative features six designated luggage collection points near the mosque’s main gates, where worshippers can check in their belongings securely. A high-tech electronic tracking system ensures efficient management, assigning each item a QR code linked to the owner’s details.

This system guarantees fast and accurate retrieval, reducing congestion at mosque entrances.

Security and monitoring

Luggage is placed on shelves equipped with round-the-clock surveillance, ensuring maximum security.

Worshippers receive a smart bracelet containing a unique tracking code for seamless collection.

The storage areas undergo routine security checks every four hours, maintaining efficiency and safety standards.

Convenient access points

Strategically located near the Mecca Library in the eastern courtyard and opposite Gate No. 64 in the western courtyard of Shobaika, the luggage storage centres provide easy accessibility. This initiative aims to enhance the worship experience by offering a secure and hassle-free solution for pilgrims visiting the Grand Mosque.
